Local by design

Keep proof of the time you put in.

Timelaps is a task list that records the work between start and done. Keep a short video of the chapter, practice, cleanup, or project you actually showed up for.

Start a session No account. No upload. Your video stays on this device.

The whole session.
A watchable length.

Choose a 10-second finished video. Short sessions stay at normal speed. Longer sessions compress evenly to fit.

10 seconds · 2× playback

Example only: move the slider. At 6 seconds, the result is 6 seconds at normal speed. At 20 seconds, it is 10 seconds at 2× playback.

A screen that gets out of your way.

A calm countdown gives you time to get ready. Once recording starts, choose the view that suits the task.

The checkmark tells you what. The video remembers how.

Start from your task. Tap Done when you finish. Play the recording back, download it, or keep going next time. Customize the camera, clock, text size, overlay position, and focus message before you begin.

Your work is not content for us.

Tasks live in local storage. Recordings stay in your browser or the Android app until you download or delete them. Timelaps has no account, cloud sync, analytics feed, or social profile.

Export anything you want to keep before clearing browser or app data. On the web, keep the page open while recording. The sideloaded Android app can keep recording with the screen dimmed or locked, subject to your phone's power settings.

Used the earlier web app? Open your existing recordings there. Local browser data does not transfer between domains.

Built around a modest idea: seeing progress can help.

A meta-analysis of 138 randomized studies found that prompting people to monitor progress improved goal attainment. Separate research on implementation intentions supports making a concrete plan for when, where, and how to act.

These studies did not test Timelaps or camera recording. Research on planning and progress tracking informs the idea; it does not validate this app.
